One of our most important goals is to help the children and their families in any way we can. Below are some examples:

A one-year old girl was hospitalized at S.C.M.C.I. after suffering from a head injury rendering her unconscious. Her mother, who had been singing to her until her voice became hoarse, expressed her belief that music would help her wake up. The baby loved music and her mother requested a stereo system to play music for her in the Intensive Care Unit. We gladly supplied a stereo and her mother began playing music for her non-stop. Due to both the excellent medical care and her mother's devotion (and possibly in part to the music she was exposed to), she regained consciousness.

While Shlomi, a victim of a terrorist bus attack, was at the S.C.M.C.I. we learned that he would still be hospitalized at the time of his Bar-Mitzvah. He and his parents expressed a desire to celebrate his Bar-Mitzvah, despite the fact that he had to remain at the hospital. We realized the importance of this wish and organized a beautiful ceremony for Shlomi. Rabbi Israel Lau, Israel's Chief Rabbi, conducted the ceremony.
